  • Penetrating wounds such as bite wounds, stab wounds or gunshot

  • Excessive bleeding

  • Unable to urinate or defecate

  • Difficulty birthing

  • Spider or snake bites

  • Ingestion of poison or toxin exposure

  • Vomiting or diarrhoea with blood

  • Loss of consciousness, convulsions or seizures

  • Collapse or inability to stand or walk

  • Swollen or bloated abdomen

  • Overheating & heat stress

Calling us during an emergency

If you have a pet emergency, call us on 03 8784 4444 to speak to our professional and friendly team of nurses and vets. We may be able offer first aid advice over the phone to assist your pet and offer guidance if you need to transport them to our veterinary hospital.

Upon arrival at our veterinary hospital, you will be greeted by one of our veterinarians who will assess your pet. We will aim to provide an estimate of costs involved with your case and we will work with you to provide a tailored plan appropriate to your pet’s needs and situation. Please be aware that with emergency procedures costs can vary depending on the services and treatments that are required.

Ongoing care after an emergency

We will keep you updated during the course of your pet’s stay in hospital. In some cases we may need to refer to a veterinary specialist centre or 24-hour emergency facility.
