Most popular pet names of 2020

Each year pet parents create wonderful and creative names for their pets. As we welcome in the new year, it’s a great opportunity to celebrate these names. Pet Insurance Australia has revealed the most popular pet names of 2020 based on their data of thousands and thousands of newly insured pets across the country. They have also included some popular pet names inspired by food, movie and book characters too!

Luna has topped the list for girl names and Archie for boy names in both categories of dogs and cats. Many popular names have reappeared including Daisy, Coco, Charlie and Bella. Whilst a few new names have emerged including Willow, Maggie, Winston and Bear.

Traditional names have made a comeback with Fluffy, Shadow, Teddy and Bear making the list. Food also inspired many with a special list of popular names including Milo, Weetbix, Oreo, Muffin and Chilli. Fictional characters from movies and books were also popular with Simba, Casper and Alice included.
