Pet Christmas Decorations DIY

Step 1 – Print template & cut out pieces

  • Print out the template we have created for a dog or cat Christmas decoration.

  • Draw any additional features that your pet might have onto the template.

  • Cut out all the pieces.

Step 2 – Cut felt pieces & ribbon

  • Attach each template piece to felt using pins. Choose colours that best suit your pet. The two circles will form the backing for your decoration so choose two different Christmas colours such as red and green.

  • As each template piece is attached with pins, cut the felt carefully to match the template, then remove the pins.

  • You will also need to cut your ribbon. You will need two pieces, each 140cm long for the bow and the hanging ribbon.

Step 3 – Arrange all the pieces in their correct order

  • Arrange all of your felt pieces in the correct order to check you are happy with your decoration. Use our finished decoration as a guide. Make any last-minute adjustments to the size or shape of each piece of felt.

  • Add any extra features that may be missing until you are happy with the finished look.

  • Create a bow out of one of the pieces of ribbon and place this at the base of your pet, like a collar. The other piece of ribbon can be folded in half and placed at the top of the decoration as the hanger.

Step 4 – Glue your Christmas decoration together

  • Now it’s time to glue all the pieces together! Remember to get help from mum or dad, especially if using a glue gun as these can be quite hot.

  • Create your pet first (excluding the eyes). Once this is complete, glue your pet creation into the centre of the smallest circle. Then secure the bow and hanger.

  • Next, add the eyes, taking time to position these correctly and evenly.

  • Lastly, glue the largest circle onto the back of your decoration.

Well done on creating your very own personalised pet Christmas decoration!

Enjoy displaying it on your tree or wrapping it up as a special gift.
