Woofpurnay Veterinary Hospital COVID-19 Update

Thank you to all our wonderful clients who have been so understanding and patient with our new COVID-19 protocols. We also want to thank you for your recent feedback, we value your opinion. It has certainly been a challenging time for us having to design and implement a number of changes in a short space of time. We appreciate your cooperation in helping to keep our staff and clients safe, so that we can continue to stay open and care for your pets.

We are trying to maintain business as normal and we are constantly reviewing advice from government authorities and the Australian Veterinary Association. We will continue to keep you updated with these changes.

Veterinary clinics are classified as essential services in the care and care-giving category as stated on the Department of Health and Human Services website, so if you live more than 5km from our clinic you are allowed to travel to us to provide necessary treatment for your pet.

There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be transmitted by or to domestic dogs and cats.

We are frequently disinfecting our doors and surfaces and have increased our already high standard of hygiene at the clinic.

To help us maintain normal service for our valued clients, we would request you to observe the following:

When visiting our clinic:

We are taking additional measures to ensure the health and safety of our team, our clients and patients. We ask that you respect the following when visiting our clinic:

  • Please provide proof of 1st vaccination before entering our clinic. Please also use our QR code to check in. One of our staff members can help you through this process.

  • We welcome unvaccinated clients and have additional services available to ensure that we can look after you and your pets. If this is the case, please return to your car and call us on 03 8784 4444 and our staff can guide you through our contactless consultation and other available services.

  • Please wear a face mask at all times. We also have hand sanitiser for use at our entrance points and reception desk.

  • When you enter our clinic, please wait in our large open foyer which has plenty of seating available for you and your pet. One of our nurses will come out and collect you when it is time for your appointment. Alternatively, you can wait in your car and phone the clinic when you are here.

  • Only one person per pet is permitted in the clinic. Children are allowed only if necessary.

  • We request that all transactions be cashless if possible.

  • If you are ordering repeated medications or food, pre-paying on the phone helps to reduce contact. We are also offering contactless pick-up.

  • Social-distancing of 1.5m and a ‘no hand shake’ policy is in place. You will notice visual boundaries at our reception desk and the seats in our waiting area have been re-positioned in accordance with this regulation. Please do not be offended, this is to keep everyone safe.

  • If you are running late please let us know - we are aiming to reduce the amount of people and time spent in our reception area. If it’s busy we may ask you to wait in your car.

Contactless consultations and other services:

We are updating our signage based on your feedback to make it clearer for everyone attending our clinic. We welcome unvaccinated clients and have additional services available to ensure that we can look after you and your pets. These services are also available to vaccinated clients.

  • Contactless consultations – simply call us on 03 8784 4444 when you arrive for your appointment. You will be asked to wear a mask and leave your pet tied to a post or placed in the provided crate where one of our team members will collect them. We will take your pet into the consult room while you wait in your car and keep you informed over the phone. Once your pet has been examined, our vet will call you to update you on your pets condition and treatment plan. Payment can be taken over the phone via credit card. We will return your pet to you.

  • Telephone consultations – simply call us on 03 8784 4444 if you would like to book a telephone consultation. Payment can be taken over the phone via credit card. One of our vets will contact you at the time of your appointment.

  • Contactless repeat medication and food collections – simply call us on 03 8784 4444 to place your order. Payment can be taken over the phone via credit card. We will contact you when your items are ready for collection. Simply call us when you arrive and a staff member will deliver the items to a designated area for you to collect.

We have also taken on board your feedback about charging extra for contactless consultations to unvaccinated clients and have decided to take this cost on board as a service to our valued clients.

Our priorities are the safety of our team, our clients and our patients. We want to thank you for your support, not just in these times, but for many years.

This situation is rapidly evolving and we will continue to keep you updated as further information develops.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact us on 03 8784 4444.

Warm Regards
